Flix Publisher 2.0 debuts
On2 Technologies today introduced Flix Publisher 2.0 for Mac at Macworld Expo in San Francisco. Flix Publisher is a browser-based video encoding and publishing application for Adobe Flash Player 8 and 9, offering users the ability to allow video encoding and publishing through a browser-based interface. The software is already shipping, and On2 is demonstrating Flix Publisher for Mac at booth no. W-4242 (pricing was unavailable).
On2 Flix Publisher is a fully customizable software development kit licensed to video websites that site owners can brand and integrated directly into their pages, providing users with a seamless branded experience in encoding, previewing or submitting videos, according to On2.
Flix Publisher empowers users to automatically encode and publish videos to websites using only their Web browser with simple drag-and-drop capabilities. The software also allows users to capture live videos from any camera attached to their computer, encoding videos within the browser on a desktop in On2 VP6 for Flash format. The video format is licensed by Adobe from On2 for Adobe Flash Player 8 and 9, and Flix Publisher is fully compatible with Apple's Safari Web browser.
"For website operators, Flix Publisher enables incredible cost savings within the video publishing workflow," the company said. "All videos are encoded to site-defined requirements and uploaded to the site servers, ready for immediate publishing."
