Apple site wins .net award

The official Apple website has been been given an award by British web culture magazine .net. The site took home the "Best Redesign of the Year" title, for the new look that premiered shortly before the release of the iPhone in June. Some changed elements included a new menu bar at top, and the use of segmented "windows" on product pages, such as that for the iPhone. Apple beat out challengers such as Manchester United, the New York Times and Guardian Unlimited.

Among other awards, .net also distributed one for the best podcast, granting it to Russell Brand of BBC Radio 2, who airs popular comedy and music from his UK radio show. BBC Radio 1's Chris Moyles came in third, while other nominees included Media Guardian, Onion Radio News, and this WEEK in TECH.

    for what??

the new Apple site is harder to navigate and much harder to find what you're looking for. it takes more clicks and more looking around to figure out what you can do. whoever redesigned the site has no idea what site navigation is about.

    what?!

You gotta be kidding me, I hated the old site! The search feature rocks & things are in a much more logical place instead of being in weird unexpected places.

    I guess it's all perspective.
