Briefly: FCPUG SuperMeet; charity shareware bundle
Shareware proceeds split with charities
Online vendor MacHeist is once again selling a new software bundle, from which a quarter of the online proceeds will go to charities such as the AIDS Research Alliance, Alliance for Climate Protection, Save Darfur and the Prevent Cancer Foundation. Buyers pick a single group they like as a recipient. The bundle itself includes a number of shareware applications, such as 1password, AppZapper, CSSEdit and Snapz Pro X; the packages would in theory cost nearly $344 separate, but are only $50 until the charity drive ends on January 23rd.
Free guide teaches game programming
Due to a mistake which wiped out an entire inventory of the print book, Pangea Software's Ultimate Game Programming Guide for Mac OS X is now available as a free PDF download. The book addresses issues directly related to developing for the Mac, such as OpenGL, Core Graphics, the HID Manager and QuickTime; the download also comes with Xcode sample projects, like networking code and a Maya file exporter. Pangea is responsible for games such as "Nanosaur," "Cro-Mag Rally" and "Otto Matic."
Pack trains for Quark Job Jackets
Online publication IT Enquirer has released the Basic Quark Job Jackets Training Pack, a multimedia guide that guides people through using the Job Jackets found in QuarkXPress 7. The Pack consists mainly of four walkthrough videos, aimed at new users as well as established designers, plus three QuickTime or PDF presentations, which offer tips on the best use of Job Jackets. Also included is a cheat sheet for future reference. ITE is selling the Pack for $37, or free with a year of Premium Content.
