NTI Shadow 3 at CES

NewTech Infosystems today announced that it will provide demonstrations of NTI Shadow 3 at the CES trade show in Las Vegas. The company will showcase its backup application at booth no. 6634MP, detailing the software's ability to maintain real-time continuous backups of all changed files as well as an advanced scheduler that enables users to set backup start times by minute, hour, day, week, or month. NTI Shadow ($30) supports Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OS X 10.3 or later, and U3 environments.

The latest release adds support for optical media though NTI's new Dragon Disc technology expanding option, which includes the ability to backup to any optical media -- including Blu-ray. Backup jobs progress transparently in the background without disturbing users, and Shadow does not require valuable resources that could slow system performance. The software backs up to virtually any system-attached drive -- including USB flash, mobile storage devices (micro drives), internal as well as external hard drives, NAS devices, and more.

Users can schedule multiple and concurrent backup jobs in native file formats, requiring no additional proprietary software to restore files.

A step-by-step wizard included with NTI Shadow simplifies setup and scheduling, according to the company, making it easy to maintain real-time continuous backups of all changed files. A Job Summary Tool also enables users to verify backup job configurations before starting automated backups.

NTI Shadow 3 includes custom file filtering for specific file types, as well as custom file type filtering that enables users to select specific file types for backup. Users can choose to save an unlimited number of revisions, a specific number of revisions from 1-1,000, or no revisions to ensure backups are always kept in sync with the original file.

"With its U3 smart drive support2, NTI Shadow will appeal to consumers, business professionals, and students who move between PCs/Macs at work, school, home, libraries, Internet cafes, airports, or client sites. With NTI Shadow and a U3 smart drive, people on-the-go can work on any XP/Vista PC and taking NTI Shadow with them to complete their work without carrying a laptop," NewTech said.

"When a U3 smart drive is removed from any computer, all system settings, program files, and application data are removed so no personal or private information is left behind on the computer while all work is saved on the convenient U3 smart drive. The user can then transfer their updated files to their home or office system."

For added security, NTI Shadow features NTI Intelligent USB Device Detection, ensuring that jobs configured to back up to a specific removable storage device are only executable when that unique device is detected on the system.
