Fujitsu updates LifeBooks for Penryn

updated 02:40 pm EST, Tue January 8, 2008

Fujitsu Penryn Notebooks

Joining in with other notebook makers, Fujitsu has launched an update to its LifeBook range to use Intel's Penryn-era mobile processors. The 17-inch N6470 (shown) is considered the PC builder's desktop replacement and ships with a 2.6GHz Core 2 Duo that helps with general performance as well as playing HD movies through the optional Blu-ray drive. It also improves storage with dual 300GB drives (or 600GB total) replacing the 250GB disks (500GB) of the older model but carries over the Radeon HD 2600 graphics.

Other upgrades include two 15.4-inch models. The A6120 has users pick from either a 2.1GHz or 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo, while the more work-minded E8410 gives users the option of a faster 2.5GHz processor at the high end and basic GeForce 8400M G video as well as drop protection for the hard drive and a spill-resistant keyboard.

Fujitsu intends to lead off sales with the E8410, which ships next week for $1,399. Buyers hopeful for the A6120 or N6470 will receive their systems in February, when their base configurations sell for $1,249 and $1,499 respectively.
