Toshiba notebook updates
Toshiba's computer division is using CES to debut several new updated notebooks, spanning a range of performance levels. At the top is the 17-inch Qosmio Q45, which despite the platform's recent defeat, is joining other Toshiba systems in incorporating an HD DVD-R/RW burner. It also includes a 2GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM and a GeForce 8600M GT card, the last of which supports the monitor's 1900x1200 maximum resolution and HDMI output. Wireless connections include Bluetooth 2.0 and 802.11a/g/n. The system's list price is $3,000, but this can vary with customization.
There are also three new versions of the 15.4-inch Satellite A215, those being the S6804, S6814 and S6820. The main configuration ($1,200) of the S6820 uses a 2.2GHz Turion 64 X2 processor, and ships with 3GB of RAM, a DVD SuperMulti drive, and a 300GB hard drive. Maximum resolution is limited to 1280x800, but graphics are supplied by a Mobility Radeon HD 2400, and 802.11a/g/n wireless is included. The S6804 and S6814 are distinguished mainly by 50GB less of hard drive space.
Finally, the 13.3-inch Satellite U305 has been given two updated versions, the S2812 and S2804. The first ($1,150 standard) uses a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM, and has a mamximum resolution of 1280x800 powered by integrated graphics. Its hard drive holds 250GB, and wireless once again includes Bluetooth 2.0 alongside 802.11a/g/n. The S2804 scales back several features, the most dramatic of which is hard drive storage, which shrinks to 160GB.
