Palm Treo Drucker Leak

Palm's major overhaul of its Treo smartphone known only as the Drucker has been spotted, say observers of Microsoft's CES keynote. Although appearing only briefly, the device clearly resembles a cross between a full-size Treo and the smaller Centro or its European Treo 500 cousin; the handset is thinner than older devices but wider. Only some details are revealed in the shot, though it confirms the use of Windows Mobile 6 (likely 6.1 by launch).

A previously leaked Vodafone roadmap points to a device with worldwide 3G over HSDPA as well as a 2-megapixel camera, GPS, and Wi-Fi. A spokesperson for the Treo maker has not confirmed these or the phone's existence but says it cannot comment on "unannounced" projects, according to one report from Treo Central, suggesting the photo may have been inadvertently included significantly ahead of a final launch. The image strongly resembles a previous leak which at the time was purported to be the Treo 800w and may indicate the Drucker's final name when it ships in mid-year.

They're really pushing the design limits over at Palm. What is their R&D budget? 100K a year? Come on guys. Ok, the specs are up, but how about a more compelling design?

    Still looks chunky

It seems Palm still can't get over the idea of designing its Treo devices to look like a worn bar of soap. Not a crisp line anywhere to be found.

And Palm? Fat isn't the new thin, as much as you might want to think so.
