SpamSweep 1.6 adds IMAP support, filters

Bains Software today released SpamSweep 1.6, an application that utilizes an advanced Bayesian spam filter with a simple user interface. The update improves Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard compatibility, adds support for IMAP accounts as well as custom rule filters, and includes various bug fixes. SpamSweep 1.6 is priced at $25, and requires Mac OS X 10.3 or later.

SpamSweep combines numerous filtering technologies which include domain and relay blacklists, sender white-listing, and a Bayesian filter to automatically delete spam messages before they are downloaded by an email client.

Bains Software says the software is extremely accurate, quietly filtering spam in the background. SpamSweep works with most major email clients, and can notify users when new 'real' mail arrives by playing a sound or displaying an alert.
