Missing Sync for iPhone

Somewhat overshooting its original schedule, Mark/Space has at last released the first version of The Missing Sync for iPhone. While the program cannot copy data directly to an iPhone, it can extract photos, contacts and calendars stored on earlier devices, namely those running Palm, BlackBerry or Windows Mobile operating systems. The data is then converted to an iPhone-compatible format, which syncs as usual.

The program does copy notes and SMS messages off an iPhone though, and enables searching through them for particular keywords. Of the two, notes alone can exported to Mark/Space's bundled Notebook application, as well as third-party programs such as Entourage or Yojimbo. Finally, The Missing Sync also lets users store their call logs, and keep track of who has been talked to and for how long. Logs can be exported to CSV, Excel, FileMaker and other formats. The software is a $40 download, and requires Mac OS X 10.4.9 or higher.

One way sync - BE AWARE

What a dissapointment. iPhone - MissingSync will not sync your memos from and to the computer but only adds those from iPhone to the existing one on the computer. If I knew it before spending $ . . . damn....

    Re: be aware

It's a version one product, what do you want from it?

And why would you need that anyway? Doesn't Apple's wonderful hardware and software already do all the syncing you would ever need?

Well testudo, I guess that would be like buying a new car to find out it can only go forward, not reverse.

On the other hand, I agree that iTunes and gang do a fine job of syncing info and to do's.

    Re:

But I would argue that there shouldn't be a need for a missing Sync for the iPhone, as the missing sync is all about providing sync capabilities to devices Apple doesn't support.

So why does this exist? Is not Apple's sync with the iPhone good enough?
