Reviews, CompUSA, Zannel
In brief: A CompUSA in Lexington, Kentucky is discounting its entire stock of Apple merchandise, Zannel has optimized its web-based multimedia sharing site for the iPhone, and MacNN has posted reviews of a website creation app called Shutterbug, and the leather Cobra iPod CoverCase. CompUSA is offering discounts of 5-percent on Apple desktops, laptops, and iPods, 10-percent off of Apple Cinema Displays, 15-percent on Apple software, and a 20-percent discount on Apple accessories. While CompUSA is currently having a sale on its website, it is unclear if this is the same offer, or if this is being offered outside of Lexington.
Zannel media-sharing service for iPhone
Zannel, a web-based service for chatting and sharing pictures, movies, and text from mobile phones was recently optimized to work with the iPhone. Normally, the page used a traditional WAP-style web page for mobile users, while the computer version is graphically rich and easier to browse. The iPhone version is similar to the standard computer-formatted page, and retains the persistent navigation and seamless transitions between sharing, viewing, and discussing content. Zannel also includes the service's chat functionality, allowing users to communicate whether at home or abroad.
Shutterbug, Cobra iPod CoverCase reviews
MacNN has posted a review for XtraLean's ShutterBug ($40), an application designed to make content-based web sites from a user's iPhoto library. The application is user friendly and powerful, but does not impose a large performance hit.
A review of CoverCase's Cobra iPod CoverCase series ($15 - $20) was also posted, which come in black, red, and green. The case is constructed from Italian leather, and features a suede interior, and come with a lifetime warranty.
