Woz to host Segway polo
In brief: 10,000 iPod Shuffles to be frozen in popsicles, Steve Wozniak will host a Segway polo tournament to be broadcast over the Web, REAL Software is expanding its Web presence, SWSoft is changing its name to Parallels, and a Leopard Bootcamp/Apple Certification Training session is being offered .... Kibon, a Brazilian ice-cream, is giving away iPod Shuffles embedded in 10,000 popsicles. The Fruttare popsicle comes in 10 different fruit flavors, and some of them will have a ready-to-use iPod Shuffle inside. Apparently, the popsicles were designed with help from Apple to ensure that the iPod Shuffles were not damaged by the extreme temperatures required by such an enclosure.
Woz to commentate Segway polo tournament
The Digital Lifestyle will broadcast a live Segway polo match, between San Jose and Oakland, hosed by Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, who captains the San Jose team, who will provide commentary during the match. The match begins at 1PM Eastern, 10AM Pacific, Sunday, Dec. 16th, and marks the first live sporting event for the new channel. The Digital Lifestyle uses a laptop computer and a broadband cellular card to upload video to their 24-hour video network.
REAL Software expands Web presence
REAL Software has launched an expanded global web presence, now available in Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), English, French, German, Italian, Japanese and for the first time, Spanish. The dynamic functions of the site are supported by REAL Software's REAL SQL Server, which has handled up to 600,000 requests a day (20 million requests per month).
SWSoft changing its name to Parallels
SWsoft, makers of the popular Parallels virtualization software for Mac OS X, announced today that early in 2008 it will adopt "Parallels" as its new corporate name. The company also says major updates to Parallels Desktop and Parallels Workstation are planned next year. For example, SWsoft PEM and HSPcomplete will be renamed to Parallels System Automation and Parallels Business Automation.
