Hypersonic to sell pre-built PCs online, at retail

updated 01:00 pm EST, Thu December 6, 2007

Hypersonic pre-built PCs

Hypersonic PC, recently bought out by RAM provider OCZ, says it will soon start selling pre-assembled, high-end notebooks from physical and online retailers. The move is significant in that Hypersonic has traditionally focused on custom online sales, while OCZ has never before had its own line of computers. It may also put the company in direct competition with Dell, whose Alienware division makes similarly-focused computers.

OCZ has yet to announce any specific prices, dates or even models, but the first line of machines will use Core 2 Duo processors and Nvidia graphics cards, with prominent DirectX 10 support; this implies the use of Windows Vista and 8000- or 9000-series GeForce cards. The company has also yet to mention which individual retailers may be carrying new products.
