LANrev 4.6 released
LANrev has released LANrev 4.6, a major update to the all-in-one lifecycle management software for heterogeneous networks. The latest release adds Mac OS X Leopard support, Time Machine integration, new remote control integrations, and improvements to LANrev's patent-pending ImageLive disk imaging technology. LANrev 4.6 client requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later, while LANrev Admin and LANrev Server work with Mac OS X 10.4 or newer (pricing was unavailable).
LANrev 4.6 enables Leopard administrator consoles to take advantage of the new remote control integration within Mac OS X 10.5, creating a remote control tool between clients without requiring the purchase of any additional software. Administrators can also remote control computers running a VNC compatible server or host.
The new release updates LANrev's automated patch management to include support for Mac OS X 10.5 updates, enabling the software to provide patch management for every major Mac and Windows operating system from Mac OS X Panther to Mac OS X Leopard alongside Windows 2000 up to Windows Vista.
LANrev's InstallEase boasts improved speed with near instantaneous 'after' snapshot for packaging tasks, according to the company, and the software can trigger manual backup and restore endpoints without requiring boot up from a different volume or CD before starting the restore.
LANrev centrally retrieves critical Time Machine information network wide, returning information such as a list of backup snapshots and the amount of free space on the backup volume alongside other mission critical items.
