Sprint Thanksgiving Phones

Sprint matched AT&T's efforts on the day following Thanksgiving by releasing a trio of phones of its own. The Moto Q9c represents Sprint's flagship as the first CDMA-based version of the Q9 with 3G Internet provided over EVDO, a 1.3-megapixel camera with flash, and stronger media support with microSDHC support and direct music sync with Windows Media Player when used with a Windows PC. It can take advantage of Sprint's assisted GPS and will stream online video through the Sprint TV service, the carrier says. It sells today for $150 with a two-year plan or $450 without a contract.

A second Motorola phone comes in the form of the promised i335, the company's latest phone for the iDEN-based, push-to-talk Direct Connect network. Besides a sleeker design, the candybar handset meets military standards for dust and shock resistance, provides true GPS, and Bluetooth with hands-free support. The i335 is designed to be readily available and ships for $50 with the standard two-year contract and $250 without the obligation.

The anticipated BlackBerry Pearl 8130 rounds out the introductions. As Sprint's first Pearl, it provides 3G over EVDO and accordingly gives access to Sprint's TV streaming service. Users can also shop from the Sprint Music Store, according to the carrier. Research in Motion's phone continues to sport its distinctive GPS as well as a 2-megapixel camera and external microSDHC slot, and sellls for $200 with a contract or $500 outside of those terms.

Lastly, the Samsung UpStage is also on sale for the Black Friday weekend, dropping from $100 to $50 after including a two-year contract.
