MacMall deal

I got excited when I saw that MacMall was selling Office 04 Teacher & Student edition for $25. (Acutally, $24.98). Combine that with the $100 rebate and you're MAKING $75!

Unfortunately, MacMall's price — although emblazed all over their site as $24.98 — includes your mail-in rebate. (That is, it's not an "instant discount.")

I knew it couldn't be that easy!

Why does anyone care about software that is 3.5+ years old and that does NOT natively run on current Mac systems - when we are 2 or 3 months away from a launch that includes - current software with modern standards and native INTEL compatibility?

Microsoft is offering purchasers of Office 04 a chance to get Office 08 for free (well, except for shipping). So, if you've held out on Office v.X for all these years (like I have), you jump at the chance to pay $25 or so to get '04 now, and '08 in a couple of months.

That's why.
