DJ-1800 3.0 released
DJ1800.com has released DJ-1800 3.0, an update to its self-contained professional DJ system for Mac OS X that negates the need for a mixer, CD players, or record decks. The latest revision of DJ-1800 features pitch lock (master tempo), automatic BPM calculation, and integrated support for multiple iPod players. The update runs natively on Intel-based Macs as a Universal Binary, includes a new setup assistant, and offers enhanced support for controllers -- including the PCDJ DAC-3. DJ-1800 3.0 is priced at $80, and requires Mac OS X 10.4 or later with QuickTime 7.2 or later. Upgrades from DJ-1800 1.x or 2.x are available for $20.
DJ-1800 software emulates four professional-quality CD players, and offers a custom cue point setting alongside a position bar to jump to any point in a track. The software's pitch lock enables users to fix a track's pitch while adjusting tempo by up to plus or minus 10 percent, while pitch bending supports changes up to plus or minus 32 percent.

Users can track scan at up to 8x speed in either direction, and can use a track search jog dial with stutter to precisely find a track position. The application automatically finds each track starting point, and automatically detects track gain levels as well as the beats per minute.
Multiple time display modes accompany multiple play modes for single, continuous, loop, and next functionality. Users can hide as well as minimize rack devices, and dual keyboard/mouse support accommodates a range of hardware controllers like the PCDJ DAC-3 and Frontier Design TranzPort, among others.
