LANrev 4.6 supports Leopard, Time Machine
LANrev today announced a major update to its all-in-one lifecycle management software for heterogenous networks, LANrev 4.6. The update introduces Leopard support, and can now utilize Time Machine from across a network. LanREV is platform independent, able to be run on both Mac OS and Windows, and its only requirement is OS 10.4 or higher (10.3 or up for the client). The update will be available in late November, and pricing is done directly through a LANrev LP representative.
Time Machine integration is designed for enterprise-level networks, allowing administrators to trigger manual backup and restore endpoints remotely, without having to boot from a different volume – such as an OS disc or external hard drive. LANrev also will collect critical Time Machine-related information, such as backup screenshots, the amount of free space on a backup volume, and other similar information. This allows the administrators to make backups before installing software that could impact the stability of the client, and a rollback can be initiated if a problem arises.
“Time Machine makes automatic backup on a Mac effortless,” said Ron Okamoto, Apple's vice president of Worldwide Developer Relations. “We are pleased to see Mac developers like LANrev innovate with Leopard to make features like Time Machine even more accessible for users."
