Two new Mac game titles

Virtual Programming today released Europa Universalis 3 and Championship Manager 2008, its world conquering strategy and football management simulation games for Mac OS X as well as Windows systems. "Europa Universalis III delves deeply into the areas of exploration, trade, warfare and diplomacy. This epic strategy game lets players take control of a nation and guide it through the ages to become a great global empire." Championship Manager 2008, conversely, puts players in the shoes of a football team manager while trying to manage a budget. Each game title is priced at $40, and both requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later.

Europa Universalis 3 enables players to take control of a nation and guide it through the ages to become a great global empire. The game is historically accurate, according to Virtual Programming, and offers broad freedom for players to choose how they rule their nation from a selection of more than 250 countries.

Key features of Europa Universalis 3 include more than 300 years of game play starting at any date between 1453 and 1789, while players decide their own form of government and structure the society as well as the trade politics. The game includes a topographic map in full 3D that provides a complete world view with more than 1,700 provinces and sea zones.

Europa Universalis also offers a cooperative multiplayer mode that allows several players to work together to control a single nation, and custom modifications are supported via an online modding community.

Championship Manager 2008

Virtual Programming touts its football management simulation game as the closest players will ever come to the highs and lows of real football management:

"Think you can do better? It's your decisions that count: your budget, your buys, your formation, your tactics... Your chance to prove it! Use your skills and knowledge to manage your club the way you feel it should be — now it's your turn."

The game features comprehensive data updates as well as a club, players, and staff with competition data updated to the end of the August transfer window. Championship Manager 2008 boasts an increase of more than 25 percent of players as well as staff in the database, offers 27 playable nations -- including the Australian league -- and enables players to use ProZone Analyst for in-depth analytical feedback on how players and the team performed during a match.
