OurTreePro 0.2b released

The developer of PaperCutPro has released a new application for tracking genealogy, titled OurTreePro 0.2b. The software is built on FileMaker Pro 9, and is designed to meet the needs of serious genealogy researchers. OurTreePro does not require a copy of FileMaker Pro to run, and was designed for multiple users under FileMaker Pro sharing or FileMaker Server. Key features include integration of digital assets with genealogy data alongside database storage of pictures, document scans, and PDF files. OurTreePro 0.2b is available as a time-limited beta and will be available for $80 when the software ships.

The author notes that the software is still in beta, and reminds users that numerous features are still in progress. OurTreePro 0.2b encourages good source citation habits, according to the developer, and produces historical narratives for individual as well as family records in a printable book-form PDF document.

    developer note...

Just so you know, I was also blindsided by the announcment that FileMaker v 9 is not compatible in its present form with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). My announcement was already submitted to MacNN when I heard. I am expecting that FMI will be working hard to rectify this incompatibility and just as soon as I have updated developer software from them, I'll update OurTreePro. Thanks for your patience! -Ron Smith, MD

    new info on FileMaker 9..

I have just learned that FileMaker 9 will NOT be compatible with Leopard until November 19 at the very earliest. I am exceedingly regretful that I have released the OurTreePro beta in light of this as I expected them to be ready upon the release of Leopard. I will relay any future plans on our website. Here's the link for their official statement: http://filemaker.com/support/leopard.html
