updated 03:00 pm EDT, Thu October 18, 2007

Fujitsu LifeBook A6110

Fujitsu on Thursday catered directly to the mid-range home user with the introduction of the LifeBook A6110 in the US. The 15.4-inch system makes 802.11n Wi-Fi standard on all but the most basic model and makes 1GB of Turbo Memory cache standard on the top model to help boot and response times. Fujitsu's signature Point and Write touchpad is also available on the high-end portable: students and others can use an included stylus to draw on the surface to draw diagrams or sketches without the need for a stand-alone tablet.

Every system sports a Core 2 Duo and a color-enhanced display. The base model starts at $799 after a rebate with a 1.5GHz processor, 1GB of memory, and a 160GB hard disk as well as more limited 802.11a/b/g wireless support. Opting for the peak $1,449 system adds both the enhanced touchpad and Turbo Memory as well as a 2.2GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB of memory, and a 200GB drive. All configurations are available today.
