virio laptop bag review
In brief: Apple UK and British resellers are planning a series of Leopard-related events, We've posted reviews of beatunes and the viro laptop courier bag, DVD-based Shake training has been released, all of Koingo Software's products are now Leopard-compatible, and a "Powered by SampleTank" promotion has launched ... Apple is planning a series of UK events for the launch of Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) on October 26th. The company's retail Web site reads ""The world premiere of Leopard, the biggest upgrade to Mac OS X, takes place on 26 October. On that big day, the Apple Retail Store is the place to be. Join us from 6pm to 10pm and be the first to experience the world's most advanced operating system." Macworld UK reports that Apple is also offering the first 500 people visiting their local store a free limited edition Leopard T-shirt. Individual resellers are also holding special events. Square Group will mark the launch with an iPod touch prize drawing and a £10 discount on Leopard.
We have posted a review of beatunes. Originally designed to help create playlists of similar types of songs for the working DJ, beaTunes has blossomed into a complete suite for the detail-fixated iTunes user. beaTunes analyzes your music library so that you can fill in missing information and generate better playlists. After scanning a music library, beaTunes shows inconsistencies, including alternate spellings, mismatched genres, and other problems. The inspection window is easy to understand.
viro laptop courier bag review
We've also posted a review of the Viro laptop courier -- the perfect bag for a 13-inch MacBook. The messenger style bag measures 14.5" x 12.0" x 4.5" and weighs 2.0 pounds. The laptop bag comes in three different colors: Cosmic Green/Black, Midnight Blue/Black, and my personal favorite Stealth Black. The feature list is impressive. The Viro looks as though it was built, from the ground up, for a small laptop. This can be a double-edged sword in terms of space, but the Viro makes up for its compact size with plenty of packing room.
DVD-based Shake training released
Dover Studios announced the release of Shake: Compositing Workflow, their latest visual effects training DVD. This title services as an introduction to node-based compositing for visual effects artists working in film and television. Shake is the compositing program of choice for many high-end film and television productions around the world. On this DVD visual effects artists, Andrew Hazelden and Russell Hazelden, explore the Shake user interface and the workflow used to create a composite.
Koingo products go Leopard-compatible
Koingo Software has announced full Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard compatibility for all fourteen of their applications (including Alarm Clock Pro, Data Guardian, Mac Pilot and more), after releasing a slew of updates. These updates are free for all previous customers, and licenses are valid for both the Mac and PC versions of their cross-platform titles.
