Apple Chicago store
Apple Inc is planning a major new store on State Street in Chicago as part of the Block 37 project. ChicagoBusiness reports that Joseph Freed and Associates LLC, the developer of the retail and residential portion of the project, is in talks with Apple regarding the site. Other retailers currently negotiating to build storefronts at the new location include Coach, Puma, J. Crew and Zara. Apple is reportedly looking at leasing up to 6,000 square feet of ground-level space fronting State Street for the new store. Apple already has a store on Michigan Avenue.
In addition to the new Chicago store, Apple is laying the groundwork for three new retail stores, according to separate reports. One includes a potential addition to the San Francisco Bay Area, in this instance within the town of Brentwood, located in the Sacramento River delta. A developer by the name of Continental Real Estate is constructing the Streets of Brentwood "lifestyle" mall, which will open in late 2008 or early 2009.
