Motorola reveals gold-plated RAZR2 Luxury Edition

Moto RAZR2 Luxury Edition

Motorola today continued its string of releases with the advent of the RAZR2 Luxury Edition. The flip phone takes the already upscale aluminum and steel design and adds both 18- and 24-carat gold plating on the hinge and accent points. The black shell also features pinstripes around the external touch display and a snakeskin-like back texture, Motorola says. 2GB of built-in flash memory also provides a practical feature that separates the premium RAZR2 from most other versions. A gold-accented H680 Bluetooth headset and leather case also come bundled with the Luxury Edition.

The new variant is based on the V8 version and uses EDGE for its Internet linkup rather than 3G access over EVDO or HSDPA. Motorola declines to list a price but expects the phone to sell in certain regions this fall; the quad-band radio remains in place and will allow the Luxury Edition to work with North American carriers as well as those in Europe and most other areas covered by GSM phone networks.
