Apple dominates T3 awards with six wins

Apple took home a total of six awards last night as UK-based gadget website T3 revealed its list of winners. The Cupertino-based company's iPhone landed the Most Anticipated Gadget for 2008, as voted for by Sky News online readers, while iTunes was crowned as the year's Best Download Service. Apple's iPod swept up the titles of Best Commuter Gadget, Best Music Gadget, and even Best Gadget of All Time -- as voted for by readers of thesun.co.uk. Finally, the MacBook Pro won the Drop Dead Gorgeous Award by beating out its primary contender, the LG Prada. "It's clearly been a fruitful year for Apple [...] and the T3 Awards show just how well regarded they are, not just by us hacks, but by readers too. Apple, enjoy your success, it's clearly well deserved."

The iPhone battled against the Sony PSP Slim & Lite, the Sony PlayStation 3, the Microsoft Xbox Elite, and the Nokia N95 cellular phone for the title of Most Anticipated Gadget for 2008.

Apple's iPod, meanwhile, faced off with a slew of competitors which included the Sky+ personal video recorder; Sony PlayStation 2; Nintendo Gameboy; Sony Walkman; Archos 704 Wi-Fi; Bose QC3; BlackBerry Pearl; Nintendo DS Lite; Sonos Bundle; Creative Zen Stone Plus; Meridian; Fatman iTube Valve Dock; and the Philips WACS7000.

Apple's iTunes Store stood against Emusic, Lovefilm, 4oD, and Napster for the Best Download Service award.

The MacBook Pro scooped up the Drop Dead Gorgeous Award in front of its own competition consisting of the LG Prada, Nokia 8600 Luna, Meridian F80, Sony Ericsson W880i, and Haier Elegance.

The awards -- which were chosen not by a panel but by the public -- reinforce a recent survey of 1,200 American consumers suggesting that Apple-branded technology products are among the top five overall most sought-after holiday gifts this year. The survey placed the iPhone as the 15th most desired gift, and respondents said an Apple laptop falls as their 11th most wanted present under the tree.
