iPhone #15 on wish-list

A recent survey of 1,200 American consumers by Solutions Research Group found that the iPhone is ranked 15th on the list of most covered "digital lifestyle" products this Christmas season. The hottest Apple-branded product, however, was a laptop, ranked #11 overall and #9 among women. The iPod was nowhere to be found on the list. Writers of the study also point out that while no individual Apple product ranked higher than #11 on the wish lists, when combined, Apple-branded technology products make it to the  top 5 overall with one-in-six considering purchase, "suggesting strong potential holiday season for the company." It's also worth pointing out that most of the other items on the list -- including HDTVs, digital cameras, and GPS navigation units -- are product categories, not actual branded items. In fact, "cell phone" is ranked 6th.

The study found that HD-capable flat screen televisions were far and away the highest ranked item, with 35% of mentions. Men and women had six items in common in the top 10 - the rest were unique by gender. For instance, Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 were on the top 10 list of men but did not make it to the top 10 list of women. On the other hand, TiVo/DVR and Apple laptops were in the top 10 for women but did not show up on men's wish lists.

    Windows

You failed to mention Windows brand PCs and laptops ranked in at #2 and #4. Still Apple did not do too bad coming in at #15.

    windows-only!

"Desktop/Laptop (Windows)" isn't a completely fair distinction for a modern survey. WE SHOULD START CALLING THEM WINDOWS-ONLY PCs!

I would consider it a fair distinction if they referred to the Apple computers as "Mac/Windows-based" (which I doubt they did).

BTW - Cell Phones in general were ranked #6 - I would assume iPhone and other smartphones could be considered as part of that figure to some degree.
