MS adds two games to Xbox 360 bundles

Two games in 360 bundles

In a bid to lure holiday buyers, Microsoft says it will soon add two games apiece to variants of its Xbox 360 console. Accompanying the standard Xbox 360 (formerly known as the Premium or Pro) and the Elite will be "Forza Motorsport 2," a realistic racing simulation, and Activision's "Marvel Ultimate Alliance," a top-down superhero action game. The bundle should take effect by Hallowe'en, and is estimated to be a $90 savings over buying the games and consoles separately.

Microsoft has in 2007 undertaken a variety of strategies to increase the appeal of the Xbox 360, which is facing off against Nintendo's Wii console, and Sony's PlayStation 3. Most notable was an August price cut, which saw the standard 360 price fall $50 to $350, and the Elite slashed $30 to $450. The new bundles may anticipate a 40GB PS3, which could have a bundled Blu-Ray version of "Spiderman 3." The cost of the current 80GB PS3 may also fall to $500.
