Valentina 3.4 update

Paradigma Software last week introduced an update to its database technology: the Valentina 3.4 update incorporates new tracking and monitoring features for Valentina databases - locally and remotely on a network -- and is available across the product line, including Valentina Office Server, Valentina Developer Network and the free, Linux based Valentina Community Server. The company said that users can now show the current status of Valentina objects, servers, databases, tables and links, allowing highly granular monitoring, such as numbers of records added in a set amount of time, how many temp tables are created or how many SQL queries are in the query pool.

The update also brings support for SQL binding for SELECT statements. Using a query pool, SQL SELECT statements written to take advantage of this feature can improve speed by up to 20 times, according to the company. Support for this feature is included with INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE statements.

The company said that developers can also return the last cursor created as a result of a created procedure and that the update also brings improved exception handing, the ability to get last error and warning messages, better XML and SQL database export, enhanced picture and BLOB objects, and new features and improvements for Valentina Studio Admin Edition.

Valentina developer and business products support Windows, Mac OS X and Linux (SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop, Fedora Core and Ubuntu). Pricing for integrating Valentina technology begins at $200 with support for every major development system on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux: Apple xCode (Cocoa and C++), Visual Basic, C/C++, Ruby (and Ruby on Rails), PHP, Adobe Director, REAL Software REALbasic, Runtime Revolution, and .NET (as well as any tool that supports COM).

Valentina Developer Network Platform Edition lets developers deploy unlimited, royalty free copies of Valentina Embedded Server on MacOS X, Windows and Linux. VDN Platform Edition costs $600, with discounts for customers who upgrade from another solution.
