Apple overhauls store
Apple has overhauled its online store new "Shop" categories, accessory subcategories, a "Popular Accessories" section, and a new "Staff Picks" area. New "Shop" categories which include "Shop Mac," "Shop iPod," and "Shop iPhone" aim to ease the process of browsing as well as purchasing hardware and software products from the Cupertino-based company's online store. The revised Apple Store Online features "Mac Accessories," "Mac Software," "iPod Accessories," and "iPhone Accessories" sections to help shoppers find the right extras for their Apple purchases. The new "Staff Picks" area lists all of Apple's own favorite products ranging from its iPhone Bluetooth Headset to its 30-inch Cinema Display and its iWork '08 software suite. The company now also lists top sellers in Mac, iPod, and iPhone categories listed by sales rank, with current chart toppers listed as its MacBook, iPod nano, and iPhone.

Apple is bit by bit revamping the whole site. I know they are changing the GSX portion of the site as well.

After a brief look at the new design. it appears that everything is still there. However, it is now more difficult to get to the refurbished products section.

I don't see the $299 clearance 4GB iPhones on the store anymore. Are they all gone?

Looks like they ditched the "Coverflow" product navigation scheme.

It's true, they scrap'd the cover flow system from their online store. Guess it wasn't intuitive enough for web users. But here they are making it the main way to find files in the OS... Makes you wonder?!

I coulda sworn at one point awhile ago I read that through iChat one would be able to control the other persons computer. Did I misread that or is it just gone from the features? Anybody know?

That was one of the features of iChat. Or something like it, I thought. Is it gone?
And thank god they got rid of the cover flow on the mac page. It was completely unintuitive and stupid.

what they need to do is get rid of the new navigation bar and go back to the old one that had everything available to the user within 2 clicks. it now takes much longer to find what you're looking for. either that or add some drop-down menus to that nav.

"Another useful new feature is Screen Sharing. Although ChatFX and ShowMacster let you show other iChat participants your Mac’s screen, the quality isn’t great and your buddies can only watch. At the other end of the spectrum, Mac OS X’s built-in VNC capabilities let you view and control another Mac, but setup isn’t easy. iChat combines the best of both worlds with its new Screen Sharing feature. With a click of a button, two iChat participants can share and control one of the participants’ Macs, all the while communicating via an audio chat. You can even display the other Mac’s screen in full-screen mode, and switch between your own screen and the remote screen with a single click."
no mention of this in the iChat video preview or the iChat page on Apple site, but I remember watching the iChat video and seeing it (obviously about a year ago).
