Core Duo Mac mini: $479

Apple's online store is listing its refurbished 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo Mac mini at $479 with a standard one-year warranty and free shipping. The small Apple computer includes 512MB of memory, an 80GB hard drive, and a SuperDrive DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW, and includes Gigabit Ethernet networking as well as built-in 54Mbps 802.11g wireless networking capability. Apple is also offering reconditioned 23-inch Cinema Displays for $749, a 17 percent reduction from the store's price on new models. Refurbished MacBooks are also available from $949, starting with the 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo white model with 1GB of memory and an 80GB hard drive. Apple backs all of its refurbished items with the same warranty offered to customers making brand new purchases, and in many cases offers additional AppleCare Protection Plans to extend that warranty to three years.

I ordered this computer last week and it arrived with twice the amount of RAM as was advertised.

    1.83Ghz refurb Mac mini

Hmmm, clicking the link takes me to Apple Store that has a 1.5Ghz Intel Core Solo w/ Combo drive for about $479, a 1.66GHz Intel Core Duo w/ Superdrive for about $649, and a 1.66Ghz Intel Core Duo w/ Combo drive for $429. Wish I could get a 1.83Ghz one for just $479... guess its all sold out.

    Wow!

I always love to see affiliate program links passed as "news".

    Johnst, see lamewing

John, you should see Lamewings post. Apple does that all the time. Elsewhere someone tried (2 weeks late) to order iWorks. The Apple rep on the phone sent it to them for free.

Apple. A really nice place to shop. News for sure. (If you think NOT. then Shop Microsoft. They will love........your money. :-)

    Is this FOX news?

I don't mind that MacNN reported this as "news" as much as they just plain got their facts wrong!

I've been following refurb prices for all Macs for months and when I saw this, I thought Apple had suddenly pulled an iPhone with the refurb'd Mini. Turns out MacNN simply screwed up.

I doubt Apple's selling the 1.66GHz Mini (the only available model as of this writing) for $170 more.

    My bad!

I just checked Google's cached page for the Apple store from Wed. morning. and Apple WAS selling the 1.83GHz for $170 more than the 1.66GHz model! Same memory, same hard drive, same SuperDrive!

    My apologies MacNN.

WTF Apple?!? You going to be offering up in-store rebates on this in the future?

    still doing it...

The irrational prices on refurb Mac minis continues!

A 1.5 Core Solo costs the same as a 1.83 Core Duo that has more HD capacity, as well as being $50 more than a 1.66 Core Duo.

I can only assume this is all due to inventory numbers...more in stock, more in discount.
