Mark/Space: The Missing Sync for iPhone

updated 10:20 pm EDT, Mon September 24, 2007

The Missing Sync: iPhone

Mark/Space on Monday announced The Missing Sync for iPhone. Expected to ship in the fourth quarter 2007, The Missing Sync for iPhone will provide data migration of contacts, tasks, events and photos from Palm OS, Windows Mobile and BlackBerry smartphones, as well as the ability to archive, browse and search iPhone Call Log, SMS text messages and Notes. Missing Sync's new the migration assistant includes the software and step-by-step on-screen guide needed to bring existing contacts, tasks, events and photos from supported Palm OS, Windows Mobile or BlackBerry smartphones to the Mac and iPhone. Once migration is complete, instructions are included to safely clear data from the previous device, making it ready to responsibly pass on.

Missing Sync for iPhone includes Mac applications to archive, browse and search iPhone SMS text messages, Call Log and Notes.

"For many, SMS text messaging makes the world go round, with millions of text messages being sent worldwide every day," the company said in its press release. "Missing Sync keeps a record of incoming and outgoing text messages exchanged with the iPhone. Once on the Mac, they can be searched and sorted in an iChat like threaded view."

With the included Call Log application, customers can lookup recent calls and keep track of all iPhone calls for time tracking or billing purposes. The Missing Sync for iPhone transfers a record of all incoming, outgoing and missed calls to the Mac where they can be searched, sorted and exported to other applications such as Excel or FileMaker -- a function that can be useful in preparing invoices or expense reports, according to the company.

With Missing Sync, iPhone notes seamlessly transfer to the Mac, to either Bare Bone's Yojimbo, Microsoft Entourage, and Mark/Space Notebook.

The Missing Sync for iPhone is expected to ship in the fourth quarter of 2007. A single installer will include English, French and German language versions. Electronic downloads will be priced at $40 from the Mark/Space Online Store, and CDs will be available several weeks later for $50. "Crossgrade" discounts will be available for owners of Mark/Space's Windows Mobile, Blackberry and Palm OS editions of The Missing Sync, according to Mark/Space, but were not specified. The Missing Sync for iPhone will require Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.10 or later and an iPhone.

really glad that there's finally recognition of the importance of text messages : )

while most of us send the odd "hello" many of mine are relatively significant and include bank details, IP addresses, order #s, etc that i need to keep (i've treated it as a lite version of mobile email for years)

    thanks Mark/Space

    - anyone know if funkeemonk is still alive/active?
