Quark to demo QPS 7 at IfraExpo in Vienna

Quark is preparing to announce the latest revision of its Quark Publishing System (QPS 7) at IfraExpo and Conference in Vienna. The event, which is scheduled to run from October 8-11, will set the stage for Quark to demonstrate its collaborative workflow system designed for newspapers as well as major corporate publishers, according to Macworld UK. The forthcoming QPS revision enables users to simplify the editorial and creative processes by connecting people as well as tasks in a virtual workplace, and includes a slew of new features. QPS 7 adds support for QuarkXPress 7 as well as QuarkCopyDesk 7, and is reworked to utilize open standard technologies like Java and Service Oriented Architecture. The Quark Booth (hall A, no. 620) will include live demonstrations and numerous Quark partners showcasing their own complimentary software.

What? Removed more bugs? There is nothing redeeming about Quark anymore. InDesign is far ahead in this game, now. Off the top of my head why InDesign CS3 is better than Quark 7:

10. Type W 9. Cmnd-Opt-C 8. .psd compatibility (better) 7. Palettes 6. Nested masters 5. Styled tables 4. Color management 3. PDF generation 2. CS integration 1. Nested styles

It will be a happy day when I read the MacNN headline: "Quark ceases operation"

These bastards sat on their product for over SIX years and did nothing, because they knew they had no competition. Bugs went unfixed, no improvements where made, user support was non-existent.

I switched to ID 2 years ago, transferred all work and templates (fairly easily, I might add), and Quark I have but one parting comment - screw you.

The time that Quark sat on their fat butts was when the old CEO was running it. This new CEO is why we have 7.3 already and new improvements comings all the time. AND if Quark was to close do you really think Adobe will move toward making better products with NO competition? Look at Golive 9.. GL use to be the best of the best until Adobe bought it! Then adobe bought Macromedia and GL9 isn't even WYSIWYG anymore and guess what support/sales has to sale, "We don't care, buy dreamweaver or don't buy at all." Ah, ok and whom offers a product on par with Golive for the Mac now? A few small developers offer ok alternatives but as soon as one is great Adobe will lawyer them to close with all of it money and patents. So long live quark!!!
