Apple confirms iPod touch video glitch
Some iPod touch players are in fact displaying overly dark video, Apple has confirmed in response to inquiries. Widespread reports, including complaints on Apple forums, have noted that blacks on photos and videos can appear to have a "negative" effect, resembling LCDs viewed at off angles, even though they are actually being viewed directly. Tech columnist Walter Mossberg, speaking with Apple, has learned that this is a known defect, but is only affecting a small cluster of players. Apple says it is attempting to solve the problem, though no timeframes for a resolution have been offered.
Other reports both by users and in some sections of the media have suggested that the problem is inherent to the Touch, a result of using inferior screens. The design and technology of the Touch is in many respects identical to that of the iPhone, which has generally been free of complaints about image quality.

OR it might be due to the thinner form factor. Perhaps the backlight isn't angled correctly behind the LCD. We don't know anything for sure until someone who practically design and built gives the official word.
So, how about we hold back on the litigation. On that note, WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU SUE? You weren't hurt by the screen not working how you thought it would. There wasn't any false advertising. They even had test models out in the brick-&-mortar stores were you could buy them. Anyone who was misinformed about the quality only has themself to blame for not getting all the information before hand. Your permanent well being does not become hindered by a device of such qualities you never had before.
I wonder how effective said statements would be in court. All I can say is CALIs go home.
It's clearly not all of them. I wonder if it was a bad run of screens that wasn't caught by quality control?
I didn't even buy an iPod, thank goodness, but I am suing anyway.
CAUSE THATS WHAT YOU GET.
'nuff said.
Um, these are two separate devices, so, techically, there would be no reason to have firmware harmony. And its not unlikely for Apple to have firmware disharmony. The iPod lines have always been filled with issues that affect just one model (say, the standard iPod) but not the others (like the mini or nano), though you'd think they must use the same software.
So, how about we hold back on the litigation. On that note, WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU SUE? You weren't hurt by the screen not working how you thought it would.
I'm sorry, are you new here? Don't you know the running joke of suing Apple over everything, since, well, everyone else in the country is suing apple over something or another. And, really, there's people here who need another coupon for the Apple Store so they can use it with their iPhone coupon and buy Leopard for free.
And, now the bigger question is whether climacs or tanya gets to be the class-action stakeholder (you know, the one who gets the money in the end).
