iSCSI Initiator 3.0

ATTO Technology has announced version 3.0 of its Xtend SAN iSCSI Initiator for Mac OS X. This tool allows users to access the Internet SCSI (iSCSI) storage networking protocol, using iSCSI applications such as collaborative digital video/audio workflows, laptop connectivity to SANs, and remote backups. ATTO says the new release has been tested against products from leading iSCSI manufacturers. New features include Challenge-Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP) Support, which enhances security of iSCSI SANs by validating the identity of remote clients.

Also included is Internet Storage Name Service (iSNS) Support, designed to facilitate the automated discovery, management and configuration of iSCSI storage devices. In addition, there is Login Redirect, which increases the availability and reliability of the storage being accessed via Xtend SAN. The software is priced at $200.
