anySIM iPhone unlocker emerges

Members of the iPhone Dev Team have released another iPhone unlocking tool, anySIM (download, mirror). The program is described as fully automatic, needing only to be copied to a "jailbroken" iPhone and launched from the Springboard interface. It is also much shorter than some alternatives, needing only three to five minutes to execute the whole process. anySIM is a free download; to deter others from creating commercial imitations, the Dev Team says it will be releasing the source code within a few days.

The number of iPhone unlocking tools has begun proliferating rapidly since last week, when the Dev Team launched its iUnlock program. Prior to this, unlocking generally required complicated hardware steps; software methods had been demonstrated, but groups such as iPhoneSIMfree and UniquePhones declared their intentions to sell tools for profit rather than post them online.
