Inside the iPod touch

In addition to our unboxing photos, iFixit very kindly provided MacNN with some hi-res photos of the tear-down of the iPod touch. The Touch, which has shipped to many retail locations ahead of customers who pre-ordered the item, is now available at many Best Buy locations as well as some Apple retail locations.

iFixit is the Mac+iPod do-it-yourself company. iFixit launched in 2003 and instantly became one of the leaders in the Mac laptop part industry. iFixit introduced iPod parts in 2006, and added iPhone parts in 2007 and is dedicated to helping people everywhere keep their Macs, iPods, and iPhones running longer. Ahead of Pre-Orders. WTF?

It pretty crappy that those of us who pre-ordered the iPod Touch will be the last to get them. Pre-order!! That means I want it FIRST!

What the h*** happened over there at Apple? $200 price drop after less than 8 weeks on the market. They kill offer the 4 gig iPhone in the same time frame. Is someone new in charge of marketing??

    re: ahead of pre-orders

No, I expect they're making the 8 gig the low-end model and releasing a 16 gig one as the high-end in order to equalise the iPod functionality on iPhone with that of iPod touch. They do this all the time at Apple (evident across desktops, laptops and their iPod line – they jack up the specs of the iMac, for example, and sometimes even lower the prices).

Smittie, I think you meant time, not time frame.

    Bluetooth?

Following on from the recently posted pics of a Touch in factory test mode, is there any sign in this tear-down of Bluetooth hardware or even a space where it looks likely it might be added in?

    I want it first...waahh.

And because you didn't get yours first, so what. It didn't cost you more, did it? It's not the equivalent of a body organ you need. Cancel your order and buy it in a store.

Nobody is forcing you to be the first to buy it. If the FedEx plane your iPod Touch is on crashes, you won't get it first. Sit back, and have some patience.
