Native Instruments today announced a trio of products consisting of KONTAKT 3, GUITAR RIG 3, and new KOMPLETE software bundles. KONTAKT 3 is the latest version of the company's industry-leading software sampler that includes a high-resolution audio engine with comprehensive sound shaping capabilities, unique KSP script programming, and universal sample format compatibility. The latest revision of KONTAKT offers a new instrument library offers more than 1,000 ready-to-play instruments, including six themed collections titled "Band," "Orchestral", "Synth", "Urban Beats", "Vintage" and "World" based on over 33GB of high-quality source material. KONTAKT 3 is due to ship in October for $450, with updates for owners of KONTAKT 2 available at $150 each.

Each instrument in every collection of the KONTAKT 3 library is outfitted with a specialized "Performance View" panel that places all essential sound parameters at users' fingertips for quick control. Drum kits include their own programmable step sequencer, while world instruments offer sophisticated tuning scale options and synthesizers come with "arpeggiators" and detailed voicing controls.

The comprehensive sound design capabilities of KONTAKT are further extended in the update through the addition of "Zone Envelopes." These flexible free-form envelopes are directly applied on the waveform, adding an intuitive new aspect to the modulation features of KONTAKT. A new sample editor also enables direct editing of waveforms for audio trimming, cutting and similar tasks directly within the application. Handling of loops and musical phrases greatly benefits from an improved wave editor, which offers superior slice detection, a flexible beat grid feature, and the option to export sliced loops as MIDI files via drag-and-drop.

KONTAKT 3 is easier to use and more efficient every level, according to Native Instruments, due to a user interface overhaul and various feature additions. Such changes include a new "Instrument Navigator" and "Monitor Tab," as well as a "Modulation Quick-Jump" and an enhanced mapping editor that simplifies the process of creating as well as editing sounds. KONTAKT's user interface includes a new integrated help panel that provides explanations and hints for nearly every function and control directly within the software.

Further improvements include several new effect algorithms, additional supported sample formats, substantially faster loading times, and more.

Native Instruments today also announced GUITAR RIG 3, the next generation of its award-winning digital guitar studio. The third revision expands on nearly every individual aspect of the software, according to the company, by offering more amps and effects as well as new live features and a completely reworked tone library with improved preset handling. The update also includes a redesigned Rig Kontrol pedal board with optimized control and audio interface functionality. GUITAR RIG 3 will be available in a foot pedal edition as well as a software-only version, both of which will offer four additional emulations of original guitar amplifiers based on the company's Dynamic Tube Response technology for the unique dynamics of tube amplification.

New amps include the "Ultraschall", the "Tweed Delight", the "Citrus" and the "Hi-White". A new "Matched Cabinet" module also provides a carefully matched combination of cabinet and microphones for every amplifier in GUITAR RIG 3, and is especially effective to set up and tweak.

"The effects arsenal of GUITAR RIG 3 has also been further expanded with six new units, including a sublime analog-modeled emulation of a legendary vintage tape delay," Native Instruments said. "This outfits GUITAR RIG 3 with a powerful arsenal of 12 true-to-life amps as well as 44 stomp boxes and effects, providing an immeasurable sonic variety to guitarists and producers."

The redesigned Rig Kontrol foot pedal included in the "Kontrol Edition" of GUITAR RIG 3 offers immediate and intuitive control of the software at any time. Two additional buttons, integrated signal level indicators, and concise button labeling all ensure GUITAR RIG is controllable hands-free and away from the computer screen. The integrated audio interface is also updated with studio-grade Cirrus Logic converters that provide high audio quality for all applications.

"To provide guitarists and producers with a rich sonic resource right from the start, GUITAR RIG 3 includes a new preset collection with more than 300 production-ready guitar tones that focus on highly playable amp sounds, spanning a wide range of musical eras and styles. Preset handling is more convenient due to the redesigned browser with improved search functions, new 'bank categories' and a new snapshot feature that allows guitarists to quickly switch between multiple variations of a tone."

GUITAR RIG 3 introduces a "Live View" feature that displays a large-scale full-screen view of the most vital parameters for live use. Users can monitor preset lists, button as well as pedal assignments, and tuner functions through the Live View at a glance.

Guitar Rig 3 is fully compatible with KORE, Native Instruments' advanced host system, and is due to ship in October as "Kontrol Edition" and "Software Edition" for $560 and $340, respectively. Discontinued updates and upgrades for existing GUITAR RIG owners will also be available, according to the company.

The bundles include the fifth revision of the KOMPLETE package, which contains new product versions and costs less, as well as the new KOMPLETE SYNTHS and KOMPLETE CLASSICS bundles that combine the company's software synthesizers and vintage emulations.
