Apple hits 1 million iPhone mark early

1 million iPhones shipped
Apple on Monday announced that it has sold its one millionth iPhone over the weekend. The milestone, recorded 74 days after its introduction on June 29, surpasses Apple's own "end-of-quarter" estimates and comes on the heels of a significant price reduction last week. "One million iPhones in 74 days-it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod," said Steve Jobs, Apple's CEO. "We can't wait to get this revolutionary product into the hands of even more customers this holiday sea- son." The company previously estimated that it would sell 1 million iPhones -- the best-selling device among smartphones during the month of July -- by the end of the quarter.
In January, Apple CEO said he hopes to sell 10 million iPhones in 2008, which represents a one percent piece of overall mobile phone market.
Last week Jobs announced a controversial price drop of $200 on the three-in-one mobile device, which led to backlash by some early adopters. In a move that some analysts claim was scripted, Apple subsequently responded by offering $100 store credit to his customers, but said that details were due later this week.
"The good news is that if you buy products from companies that support them well, like Apple tries to do, you will receive years of useful and satisfying service from them even as newer models are introduced."
The company inked a deal for faster 3G wireless and other technologies that could make its way into the next version of the iPhone for Europe as early as November, according to a weekend report based on offerings listed at T-mobile's website.

Maybe the shareholders and the naysayers can relax now? That is 9 phones per minute if the retailers were open 24 hours per day, 7 days a week...

Its been two posts and 40 minutes, and no one's made comments about how long the Zune took to sell a million, or how MS counts shipped vs. sold (although who knows what Apple counts), or anything.
Man, I know its monday, but get your act together, will you!

Hey testudo, I was watching Rome the other day, and discovered that testudo is latin for tortoise!
I thought "Now, I wonder why testudo named himself that?"

How to:
09/10, 10:13am reply
How to create a testudo post:
1) Pick apart a sentence or paragraph word for word. The slightest inaccuracy will make you feel far superior to someone you don't even know.
2) Don't use facts: Facts just muck up an argument. Argue the vague statements or words posted. It's much easier than doing research on facts.
3) You don't have to be right: Proving the other person wrong is a lot easier than proving yourself right. Always take the easy way out.
4) Use Sarcasm: It has been called the greatest defense for the weak minded. Use it at all times cause it makes you feel better about yourself and boosts your ego. It also helps you to avoid facts.
5) Pick and Choose your battles: Don't argue everything someone has posted. This would be a mistake since some posts are accurate. You need to pick and choose which phrases and sentences to attack. This assures you that you dont agree with anyone and that you are always right. (note: Make sure your italicize quotes properly. This makes you look really cool, like those people who add images to myspace. ROCK ON!)
6) Do not agree with anyone: this would be a fatal flaw and would just make you one of the "masses" or "fanboys". If someone does make a post, disagree with it no matter what it is. Anyone who posts in a Mac Forum is a fanboy, thus wrong by default.
7) Be Aggressive: Make sure you come across as a jerk to further alienate everyone. Being alone is cool! Just ask any 80 year old who has no friends.. they will agree. If they don't, they are probably a fanboy.
