MicroNet 1TB NAS

MicroNet Technology has announced a new Network Attached Storage solution that offers multi-terabyte capacity, an integrated print server, an iTunes music server and zero-touch automated backup. The new Fantom Drives G-Force MegaDisk NAS appliance is the first NAS RAID solution in the G-Force MegaDisk product line. It's based on a dual-core processor and has a built-in iTunes Server that enables sharing of MP3 and MP4 content, including content purchased from the iTunes Store that is properly authorized. Each MegaDisk NAS unit incorporates dual SATA300 disk drives with Native Command Queuing technology to optimize read and write performance. All MegaDisk NAS functions, including RAID options, are managed and monitored via a web interface.

The G-Force MegaDisk NAS also supports robust RAID disk configurations including RAID 0, RAID 1, JBOD, and SPAN. There are dual USB 2.0 expansion ports that enable the attachment of printers to the MegaDisk NAS, which can be used in conjunction with the integrated print server transforming USB printers into shared network devices. Also included is an unattended Bit Torrent download manager, allowing large downloads to be scheduled for non-disruptive off-peak hours.

The drives include a free five-user license of NTI Software's Shadow zero-touch backup software, normally priced at $150. NTI Shadow offers real-time, continuous backup in addition to scheduled backup to virtually any storage device and includes custom file type filtering, version control, drag and drop file restoring, and more. NTI Shadow supports Windows XP/2000, Macintosh OS X v 10.2.8+, and U3 Smart Devices.

The Fantom Drives G-Force MegaDisk NAS products are currently available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB configurations priced at $340, $580 and $100 respectively. It can scaled up to 4TB.
