NeverWinter Nights 2 Mac

Aspyr Media has announced that it will port NeverWinter Nights 2, the popular role-playing game set in the fantasy world of the Forgotten Realms, to Mac OS X. In the game, you play a character who matures from peasant to full-fledged hero in an attempt to protect Realms against grave threats. You can build a character that suits your style of play - good or evil, chaotic or lawful, with any number of skills, feats and professions. Aspyr says "Whether lobbing fireballs and researching forgotten spells as a powerful Wizard, hacking a trail through legions of orcs as a Fighter armed only with a battle axe and your courage, or taking on the role of a Rogue that can slip into the shadows at a moment's notice, the choice is yours. Choose your alignment, your allies, your companions, and how you want your character to develop." NeverWinter Nights will ship in December 2007, and will soon be available for pre-order at a price of $50.

    note to self..

don't install PC games under Boot Camp. Instead wait an entire year for the port to come out. Rationale: the game will cost $15.00 less by that time and all the l33t kiddies will have moved on to the latest and greatest.

    wait. that idea sucks. nevermind.

    Will it run decently?

Will it actually get a decent frame rate on my 24" iMac? As the PC version which I bought only gets 12 FPS at best. I have a 2gigs of ram and a the 7300 card.

    Disappointing Game

Before everyone gets too excited about this, you should check out the appropriate forums thoroughly (Bioware runs the primary forum). The short of it is that this game is largely regarded as a complete failure. People who enjoyed NWN1 are especially disappointed as it is much worse than the original in most regards.

    re: bootcamp

that is a true statement. but only because you wouldn't be running os x at all. you'd be running windows. bootcamp simply allows you to choose which os to boot into at system startup.

paralells is worse. although you'd be running both the mac os and winblows simultaneously, their 3D support (while improved in version 3) is incompatible with many, many titles. when games do run, they are often (but not always) very slow.

    walken for president.

    re. disappointing game

I'd have to agree with the notion that this game didn't really live up to my expectations of being that Baldur's Gate replacement but it certainly isn't a bad game.

    re: disappointing game

I have played through it...It's not that bad...certainly a bit slow in some places and the camera views were a bit cumbersome but it was a good game nonetheless and what with the Betrayer of the Mask campaign coming real soon I thought people would be glad it was porting to the OS X... Oh well...

    come to think of it....

I'm still playing it and its quite fun...I experimented a bit with the module maker and had some fun making my own story...then I added the 11th area to my module and it stopped working...I have since installed a patch and although I had to delete the custom module the patch does add a lot of nice features including speeding up the game a lot so it doesn't take ages to do everything...
