Samsung S5 T10 P2 Players

Samsung today announced in advance the devices it will introduce at this month's IFA technology show in Berlin, including three new music players new to the world stage. Leading the introductions is the already-mentioned YP-P2: as confirmed before, the 3-inch touchscreen is the near-exclusive control mechanism and allows users to play MP3/WMA music as well as MPEG-4 videos in a native widescreen mode. Bluetooth and FM radio are also confirmed as built-in, as are native support for podcasts ("datacasts," according to Samsung) and manually browsing files stored on the player. Pricing is still unavailable, though the P2 will first ship to Europe in either black or white colors.

Also accompanying the announcements is the YP-S5, Samsung adds. The device uses a more conventional 1.8-inch screen and echoes the earlier YP-K3 but adds a bottom-firing 1.5W stereo speaker arrangement and a Bluetooth feature that allows sharing audio between two separate Bluetooth headphones. MPEG-4 video and voice recording are also onboard for the S5, which will debut in 2GB, 4GB, and 8GB versions at the same time as the P2.

Samsung concluded its releases with the YP-T10, a slimmer but also more advanced jukebox: the device is just 7.8mm (0.31 inches) thick and is scarcely wider than its screen, but supports both the Bluetooth sharing feature of the S5 as well as Java-based games and FM radio capture. The company also confirms that the player should support WMV video clips in addition to MPEG-4. Battery life is estimated at 30 hours for the player, which will be available in lime, purple, and red colors as well as Samsung's characteristic black. Capacities will be the same as for the S5.
