Maestro 1070 mimics iPod Hi-Fi

Maestro 1070 Speakers

Blue Raven on Monday introduced the Maestro 1070, a new premium speaker dock for iPods, iPhones, and other devices. The 70-watt system shares the same box-like shape as Apple's iPod Hi-Fi speakers but hopes to offer comparable quality at a lower price. A central 5-inch subwoofer and two three-inch satellites separate bass from high and mid-range sounds while still providing enough power to fill a room. The system charges and docks any iPod while it plays, but unlike the Apple device also includes a video-out jack for displaying photos or videos on a TV.

Black and white versions are available and work with all dockable iPods; the iPhone has also been tested to work with the device and receives both power and navigation commands through the bundled wireless remote. Blue Raven says the Maestro 1070 should be available in stores today for $199.

    That's hilarious.

Though, let's compare - since Microsoft runs each version of their operating systems (Win XP, Vista, 64-bit versions, Mobile, etc...) as a separate development/division, they incur additional, often redundant costs for maintaining this quagmire.

Apple, on the other hand, is clearly deploying the same operating system across their product lines, allowing strong synergy and collaboration across product lines (i.e. the same security fixes for Safari apply to Tiger, Leopard, and iPhone.

I wonder which business model is smarter?
