Microsoft confirms standard Xbox 360 with HDMI

Microsoft has already begun shipping its new HDMI-equipped Xboxes to stores, according to the company and anecdotal reports. An Atlanta, Georgia-based visitor to gaming site Shacknews discovered that his new mid-range console already included the HDMI output as well as an updated manual that reflects the digital video option. When contacted about the update, a Microsoft spokesperson confirmed previous rumors of a gradual introduction of the update but would not say whether the low-end Xbox 360 Core model would receive the same treatment.

"Retailers are gradually introducing HDMI-enabled Xbox 360s into the channel to meet demand," said the Microsoft representative. "We have not announced any plans to add HDMI to the Xbox 360 Core System."

The company also declined to comment on the claims that these new systems would also feature cooler 65 nanometer CPUs, and would only say that it was "constantly updating" the 1700 parts inside the system. A previous report suggested that Microsoft hoped to combine both the 65nm update and HDMI at the same time to improve the efficiency of its update rather than introducing components as they become available.
