.Mac enhancements: 10GB storage, gallery

Apple released more details regarding significant upgrades to .Mac that were announced today. The new .Mac Web Gallery allows users to share photos and movies directly from iLife '08 with anyone on a Mac, PC or iPhone. Visitors to galleries can also download high quality images for printing and even contribute photos using a standard web browser or email. Mac Web Gallery is also designed to work with the iPhone, enabling users to view albums or upload directly from the device. There is also a tenfold increase in .Mac storage to 10GB (20GB for Family Pack customers; members can choose to purchase an additional 10GB of storage.), as well as support for personal domains for iWeb websites. Enhancements to .Mac Mail include the ability to send and receive larger email attachments up to a maximum size of 20MB and improved webmail spam filtering.

With the aid of iWeb '08, .Mac members can embed dynamic web widgets like Google Maps, Google AdSense, .Mac Web Gallery albums or HTML snippets in their .Mac website and host their websites at their own personal domain.

.Mac is available as a subscription-based service for $100 per year for individuals and $180 for a Family Pack which includes one master account and four sub accounts. You can optionally purchase an additional 10GB of storage for $50 annually, and there is a $30 discount off the first year of subscription with a new Mac purchase. You can buy .Mac through the online Apple Store.

iMovie missing features

iMovie 08 is missing many features that -were- present in iMovie HD; things like editing multiple audio tracks, timeline editing, editing volume fades etc. I've had a look at the tutorials and all videos, but it seems it's really not there!

Even worse: importing old projects from iMovie HD is not fully supported (from the tutorials) http://www.apple.com/ilife/tutorials/#imovie-oneplace-9:

'importing an iMovie HD project will remove all custom transitions and effects, titles and any music added to your project !!'

Does anybody know if it's possible to install iMovie 08 next to iMovie HD?

When QuickTime 7 came out, I renamed QuickTime 6 Pro before installing v. 7. I named the old version QuickTime6.app and I can run both now. I can save downloads using 6 Pro, then open them in 7 and play full screen, plus the rest. Will eventually upgrade to QT 7 Pro and join the rest of you. Add the .app suffix when renaming.
