Flashforward; UK sale
In brief: Flashforward announces awards finalists and voting, Wrappers cuts prices on laptop accessories, a DVD teaches color correction, and teachers collect their scores faster. The Flashforward Conference and Film Festival has announced 60 finalists from a dozen countries for its Big Orange Rubber Arrow award, which promotes the work of designers who use Adobe Flash. Categories include the likes of Art, Cartoon, Narrative and Technical Merit. At the same time, Flashforward has opened up voting on its People's Choice Award, where the public can voice its opinion on the same finalists. Winners will be announced at the Flashforward Film Festival in Boston, at a ceremony scheduled for September 19th.
UK laptop accessory sale
The Oxford-based Wrappers is hosting a laptop accessory sale, in which it is cutting the prices on several different products. Its velvet laptop sleeves are currently 25 percent off for instance, while one of the better deals is a canvas MacBook sleeve, which has a 40 percent discount. All prices are in British pounds and the sale ends August 31st.
DVD tutorial for Final Cut, Apple Color
Call Box has released a new DVD, entitled Digital Color Correction -- The Final Cut Studio Workflow with Apple's Color. Led by colorist Stuart Ferreyra, viewers learn how to do professional-level correction, and run through topics such as equipment, HD formats and primary and secondary correction. The disc has one-and-a-half hours of content and is being sold online for $75.
Fast Rabbit launches Score Collector
Fast Rabbit Software has debuted Score Collector, a companion program that collects, saves and prints scores from other Fast Rabbit educational titles, distributed across a network. Titles currently supported include Master the Facts Multiplication, FRS Fraction Master, and FRS Division Drills. Versions are available for both Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4 systems, the latter of which have the advantage of a Universal Binary.
