Fake Steve Jobs has been outed. The author of "The Secret Diary of Steve Jobs" is Daniel Lyons, a senior editor at Forbes magazine. Brad Stone of The New York Times made the positive identification, immediately after which Lyons posted an entry Sunday titled "Damn, I am so busted, yo" that acknowledged his identity had been revealed. Computerworld reports that many regular readers of the blog were disappointed by the revelation. "You just ruined my life. Thanks," quipped one. The blog will now move to a column hosted by Forbes.

Apple-authorized resellers opening in China

MacInChina reports that several new Apple-authorized Mac and iPod resellers are currently opening at various locations in China. One of these new shops is slated for an August 8, 2007 opening at Shangdu SOHO. Also, another store is likely to open up at the e-World shopping mall in Beijing's tech hub, Zhongguancun. The opening date is around August 18, 2007. The site writes "Beijing's Mac shops have increased in leaps and bounds since the early 2002 low of a solitary store at Dongdaqiao/Landao. There are currently over 17 Mac and iPod stores in the northwestern tech hub of Zhongguancun alone."

The Designer's Apprentice

Adobe Press has released "The Designer's Apprentice" by Rick Ralston. This is an intermediate to advanced level guide for graphic designers and photographers on how to automate Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. The guide contains four chapters of real-world projects (projects files are available for download), all written with a "relaxed and humorous tone." The Designer's Apprentice will be available the third week of August 2007 and can be ordered on Amazon, Barnes and Noble or wherever books are sold.

iPhone "Missing Manual" ships

"iPhone: The Missing Manual" by David Pogue has been released. The $20 book offers coverage in the following areas: The phone and organizer. "Sophisticated features like conference calling, visual voicemail, and text messaging are a finger tap away." The iPod. Image Moments rebate

Digital Foci, Inc. has announced a limited time rebate offer for the popular 'Image Moments' digital photo album frame. Customers who purchased Image Moments from July 5, 2007-September 30, 2007 can mail in a rebate form for a $30 rebate, reducing the price of Image Moments to $170 (original price $200).
