Verdana, other fonts
During the TypeCon2007 conference, currently underway at the Crowne Plaza in Seattle, Microsoft and Apple annnounced that they have renewed their font licensing agreement, giving Mac users ongoing use of the latest versions of Microsoft Windows core fonts. Though terms of the deal (including time length) were not disclosed, the agreement allows for licensure of Times New Roman, Arial, Verdana and others, which are included with Mac OS X. The announcement makes no mention of various fonts specific to Windows Vista, which currently do not ship with Mac OS X.

the agreement ever expires does that mean I'm in violation of copyright infringement when using Time New Roman on my mac ?

No, it doesn't. It means you would be if your Mac didn't come with a copy and you copied it from another machine.
But even if this agreement fell through, IMO there's little chance of you losing Times New Roman. Apple could just license it direct from Monotype themselves. The same may not be true of e.g. Arial, however. But why use Arial when you have real Helvetica?

So, does anyone know if this is connected to the "other" MS-Apple font technology licensing agreement? That being TrueType, which is an Apple created technology licensed by Microsoft. I always suspected that the two agreements were tied together.

I don't know about other folks, but i find helvetica to be annoying, and arial to be far simpler and less space consuming.
