Logitech G9 and G15

Logitech today supported its hardcore gaming audience with two heavily customizable controllers. The G9 (pictured) is the first Logitech mouse to ever allow a customizable shape: gamers who prefer to steer with their fingertips can choose the narrower Precision grip, while an add-on Wide Load shell fits the mouse to those who prefer to rely on their palms or those with large hands. Regardless of taste, the G9 boasts extremely accurate 3200 DPI laser tracking and will save up to five players' profiles (including keyboard combos and mouse DPI) on the mouse rather than forcing gamers to carry their settings on a separate disk.

The mouse also brings in the adjustable weight cartridge of earlier G-series mice to deliver an ideal balance, Logitech's MicroGear precision scroll wheel, and LED lights that can be set to any of hundreds of different colors. The G9 is officially designed to support Windows XP and Vista and should be available later this month for $100.

To match the mouse, Logitech has also revealed an updated version of the G15 keyboard. The revamp provides a sleeker style in line with Logitech's most recent peripherals and fixes the in-game information LCD in place rather than operating it on a hinge. In exchange, the new G15 gains a two-port USB hub, a detachable palm rest, and a Game Mode toggle that disables the Windows key to prevent accidental task switches in the middle of play. It too requires XP or Vista and will sell for $100, though it should ship in October.
