Apple's third quarter: By the numbers
The iPod, meanwhile, moved 9.8 million units in the quarter, representing $1.570 billion in revenue -- a year-over-year unit increase of 20 percent, but a sequential decrease of 7 percent in unit shipments.
Apple is being cagey with iPhone numbers, stating that 270,000 "iPhones and Apple-branded and third-party iPhone accessories" were sold in the two days the product was on sale before the quarter ended, but not saying exactly how many actual iPhones were sold.
In the Americas, Apple posted revenue of $2.68 billion with 824,000 Macs shipped, representing a 28 percent unit increase and 21 percent revenue growth year-over-year.
Retail showed incredible gains, with 330,000 Macs representing $915 million in revenue moving through the company's outlets. This represents a 53 percent increase year-over-year with regard to units, and a 28% revenue increase.
