Kingston boosts phones with eMusic microSD card

updated 02:35 pm EDT, Mon July 23, 2007

Kingston microSD eMusic

Beyond its CF cards, Kingston this afternoon has also released a special microSD bundle tailored just to music phone users. The MusiConnection pack includes both a USB reader and a 1GB card preloaded with ten MP3s from eMusic. Buyers also get a special invitation to a trial subscription that lets them download 50 more songs -- double the 25 typically given to new subscribers. A typical card stores about 160 songs at eMusic's typical 192Kbps audio quality.

The music-oriented storage pack should be available later today both through Kingston as well as Buy.com and numerous online and physical cellphone stores, all of which should sell the 1GB edition for $20. eMusic subscriptions usually begin at $13 per month after the initial trial period and offer about 40 songs per month with more as an option in premium plans.
