New Parallels 3.0 build

Parallels has released Desktop 3.0 build 4560 for Mac OS X, a free minor update to build 4128 (ithe first release of Desktop 3.0). The new release includes better customizability of SmartSelect for easier app/file integration, faster and smoother Boot Camp partition use, smoother fullscreen transitions (no more flickering or lagging redraws), the return of the Parallels Image Tool,a beefed up Parallels Explorer that makes sharing files and working with non NTFS drives easier and more powerful Snapshot manager that gives you greater control over how snapshots are created and deleted. For users without this build of Parallels, an upgrade is $50 and the full version is priced at $80.

    Tried them both

I tried both Parallels and Boot camp, and I must say I was disappointed with both. The way people talk, I was, for some stupid reason, expecting near native speeds, seamless Windows/Mac usage, etc. I found it not to be the case. Compared to boot camp, the speed seems really lacking. And neither like multiple monitor setups at all.

I ended up buying VMWare, just because they've got a $40 special. I couldn't see spending $80 for either product.

    no problem

I'm not sure what your talking about as far as support for multiple monitors are concerned. I have 2 monitors I have set up when using both Parallels and Boot Camp and not a problem with either, I have 2 monitors full of desktop space without any problems. Speed wise I find Boot Camp to be equally as fast as other similarly equipped PC's running the same OS. Yes, Parallels is slower but you have to expect that especially when you have to take in to consideration that Mac OS is still running in the background and using resources. You may want to check you configuration or get more RAM.

    Something Wrong

Also not sure what you're describing with speed. My MacBook (NOT Pro) dows great with AutoCAD, Office, and even games. I think you're windows installation is troubled (or maybe you don't have the proper drivers installed) if you're that upset.

Running Parallels or Fusion from a Boot camp partition is noticeably slower then using the respective virtual hard drives. As for drag and drop it works pretty much flawlessly for me. I can grab a file on my Mac Desktop and drag it over an open Windows app and it opens with no fanfare
